Kodi wins his 10th CC!
In the midst of all the puppy shenanigans, Show Champion Belatarr Kodiak won a superb victory at the Darlington Championship, becoming only the second Belatarr show dog (and much the youngest) to reach double figures of Challenge Certificates.
Under breed specialist judge, Maxine Munday, Kodi scored his 7th CC of the year and his 10th in total, before going on to be awarded Best of Breed, his 4th Champ Show BOB of 2024.
“Such a worthy Champion, he has improved so much since I last judged him. So masculine, robust but moderate in all the right measure! Love his medium size so well balanced, everything flows, excels in shoulder placement, strong in frame with well-developed muscled thighs giving a powerful far reaching stride, a picture stacked & moving, I do like a horizontal tail carriage but very few in the breed, especially males, have it. Handled to perfection, pleased to award him CC & BOB.”

Congratulations, as ever, to David & Jenny – what an exciting week this has been!
Puppies arrive!
We’re absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the safe arrival of Belatarr’s 7th generation – 5 girls and 1 boy – born to our beautiful girl Aja.

The births were very easy and all 6 pups are feeding, squeaking and wriggling well, gaining 15% weight across the board on their very first day, and all are very even in size and weight, with Aja a completely devoted and attentive mother to them, as ever.

As usual, we will be adding weekly updates to show the progress and development of each of the puppies, with much snuggling and snoozing to come!
Kodi wins Best In Show.
Another milestone win was scored by Belatarr Kodiak at the prestigious Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Club of Great Britain Open show on 30th July.
Still only 15 months of age and in Junior Dog class, Kodi was awarded Best Dog and then Best in Show under HPR Gundog specialist judge Ian Halbert.

Congratulations to Jenny & David on this super win and this thrilling start to Kodi’s show career!

Huge congratulations to Jenny and David for achieving a double with their Belatarr Boys – certainly a day to remember.
Big Win for North!

A fantastic day at the Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla Club of Great Britain Championship Show for Belatarr North by Northwest ShCM, where he came from winning Veteran Dog to be awarded Best Dog (collecting his second Challenge Certificate) before going on to be named Best Opposite Sex and Reserve Best in Show, all under Gundog Specialist judge Christine Ryan. Huge congratulations to Irene and North!

Cuba takes to the water.
What better way to keep cool on the hottest day of the year than to explore our river:

Cuba is approaching 13 weeks old and has excitedly splashed and paddled in the river before, but today she first retrieved a stick and then went for a series of full-on deep water swims, demonstrating an amazing technique right from the very first attempt!

Week 7 Puppy Update.

Week 5 Puppy Update
Another highly eventful week for the youngsters, with several important milestones reached. The erratic weather has meant that the pups have only this last week been able to get outside for the first time, but some warm sunny days have now given them lots of opportunities to explore their outdoor run and gain valuable exposure to outdoor sites and sounds at the same time.

Lots of visitors have come to see them too, with many toes chewed and many laps fallen asleep on.

At the same time, they transitioned seamlessly from hand-feeding of solid foods to using their big-boys-and-girls weaner feeder, something that every generation of Belatarr puppies before them have used and benefitted from.

Also, just like every previous generation of Belatarr puppies, these 5 love snuggling into their mini-den, whether they are indoors or out:

And finally, this week’s portrait shots:

Week 4 Puppy Update.

Week 2 Puppy Update.
A big week for the youngsters, with their first attempts to walk (the wobbly spider phase) starting on day 11 and Miss Purple taking the lead by opening one eye on the evening of day 12. Everyone’s eyes are just about semi-open now, (day 14) but it will be a blurry further week or so before things come into proper focus and they can finally see where they are. The past few days have also seen (or heard, at least) a variety of mini barks and sleep baby-growls and squeaks as their ears have opened and they start to practise their vocal skills.
